Club News

At the risk of sounding clichéd…”our club is powered by the efforts of our volunteers” Parents volunteering time to the club often comes after “real” responsibilities – work, family, holidays – somewhere in “normal life” our volunteers corner some time to help out the club in whatever capacity is needed.Over the past few years, Lee has put an “un-natural” amount of time into our club, particularly, in working to grow the female game within the club. Lee is always busy – with life, work, family….but always found time to play football, motivate others to play football, coach football, administer football, mark football lines. No surprises then that he leaves our club to go off and work in …. Hairdressing.Only kidding – starting Monday, Lee will begin his new role as Community Development Officer for Central Football Tairawhiti. On behalf of the committee and our parents and players – a huge thanks to Lee for his contribution to our little club over the past few years. We wish him, Sheree, Madison, Elliot and Phoebe the best of luck in their new adventure; the Smith family will be sorely missed!Coaching responsibilities for our Grade 13 Vikings team will be shared between Greig Neilson, Riki Walls and Lee (who will be back most Saturdays for the last six weeks of the season). If you’re a parent who wants to get involved with the club (and leave behind a legacy like Lee’s!) feel free to get in touch – volunteers in any capacity are always welcomed! ...
